Description of model’s processes

The model simulates the transport node “Independence Square – Khreschatyk” Kiev Metro. Arriving passengers with possible input stations “Independence Square” and “Khreshchatyk” (1), as well as arriving at the train station (2). On arrival at the station, passengers can either go to the switch (3) or to the exit of the subway (1).

 

Technical description

 Model’s input parameters:

  •  incoming passenger traffic flow of the station “Independence Square”;    
  •  incoming passenger traffic flow of the station “Khreshchatyk”;
  •  interval of arrival of trains at the station;
  •  passenger traffic flow arrived from each direction;
  •  the percentage of pedestrians walking on the switch (for each direction of switch);
  •  open / closed the long connecting passage;
  •  show / hide the map of the density of pedestrian flows. 

 

 Data output from the model:

  • pedestrian flows of connecting passages “Independence Square – Khreschatyk” and ” Khreschatyk-Independence Square”  per hour;
  • pedestrian flows of entrances and exits of the stations “Independence Square” and “Khreschatyk”  per hour;
  • Total pedestrian flows of connecting passages “Independence Square – Khreschatyk” and ” Khreschatyk-Independence Square”;
  • Total pedestrian flows of entrances and exits of the stations “Independence Square” and “Khreschatyk”;
  • map of the density of pedestrian flows.

 

Result of work

Thanks to the model it is possible to analyze the throughput of the transport node “Independence Square – Khreschatyk” Kiev Metro. Moreover the model makes it possible to understand all bottlenecks of this transport node and to study the dependence of throughput at different algorithms of train’s arrivals.
