One of the most popular subject of research of simulation modelling is pedestrian dynamics. Today systems of mass service serve a huge passenger flow every day: Heathrow Airport (London, 200 000 persons/day) , railway station Termini (Rome, 450 000 persons/day), Hartsfield-Jackson  Airport (Atlanta, 250 000 persons/day), Shinjuku railway station (Tokio, 3 600 000 persons/day), Grand Central Station (New-York, 750 000 persons/day). Delivery of services of ticket buying, security, organization of eating areas, cooperation with external transport systems  –  that all is not a simple task for any system of mass service. Using simulation modelling significantly simplifies a process of designing or modernizing similar systems.

1. Possibility to conduct researches for throughputs of particular parts and the whole system by changing input parameters. For example:
• to change the intensity of arriving of passengers by directions and to determine workload of interaction area with transport infrastructure of city;
• to specify probabilities that a passenger needs to buy a ticket in a ticket office or to come to an information service for help. Moreover it is possible to specify a number of cellules of system (for example, a number of ticket offices) and to determine a length of queue and average time of passenger’s stay in the queue;
• to conduct optimization of number of employees in each zone of the system (to prevent from a jam because of lack of room, but not to spend adding room and expenses for adding employees and their work places)
1. To determine the density of passenger flows in different parts of the system:
• Building a map of density of passenger flows;
• Determining a dependence of workload for a defined direction on input parameters;
• Optimization of the density of passenger flows of particular zone.
1. Receiving results in convenient form:
• import results in a database;
• import results in an excel-file;
• building charts and diagrams with results of modelling.

The model makes possible to understand all details of work of designed system thanks to visualization, dynamic-changing parameters and charts with results of work. Many modern centers are designed with using simulation modelling (passenger terminal of Frankfurt airport, the project of modernization of Grand Central Station in New-York, terminal №5 in Heathrow). This method of pedestrian flow analysis gives a good showing and gets more popular from year to year.
